Ghosts ‘n goblins resurrection re engine

Taking advantage of the fact that there are few weeks left for the release of Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection on Nintendo Switch, I wanted to give another chance to the 1985 arcade, this time reintesting it from the Capcom Arcade Cabinet (not to be confused with that «hulk» called Capcom Home Arcade, in which, by the way, is Ghouls’n Ghosts) released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nowadays retro collections or emulators make it easier for us, especially if we resort to the option to rewind a few seconds as in The Lion King, or load the game shortly before dying, but in the case of this Ghosts’n Goblins there is neither of those two options within the Capcom Arcade Cabinet.

To this high demand on the part of the player, where it was essential a good dose of skill seasoned with another of patience, was added one of the cruelest moments in memory: when you reached the end and you killed the demonic boss, the game told you that everything was the product of an illusion and you had to redo all the phases again… And with greater difficulty, to make matters worse.

Ghosts and goblins play

Grandparents believed in ghosts, goblins, the return of the dead in the night, resurrection, incarnation, heaven and hell, in goblins and aliens and the horsemen of the Apocalypse.

The children, children of another generation, tried, in vain, to convince their grandparents that their world was fabulous, let’s say, like «The Thousand and One Nights», but at the same time, imaginary, non-existent, inconceivable.

And the children’s arguments were useless. Always, the grandparents ended up believing more than ever in their esoteric world, for example, at the time of Todos Santos when they placed food on the altar at home for the dead who would arrive at an undefined hour of the night.

And fourth, because the grandchildren were their allies and were equally perplexed and amazed when they encountered that world, as, for example, that grandson who, convinced that he could fly like his hero Superman, grabbed a sheet, put it as a cape on his back and threw himself from a two and a half meter wall.

Halloween means «All hallow’s eve», a word that comes from Old English and means «All Hallow’s Eve», since it refers to the night of October 31, the eve of All Saints’ Day. However, the old Anglo-Saxon custom has stolen its strict religious meaning to celebrate instead the night of terror, witches and ghosts. Halloween marks a return to ancient paganism, a trend that has also spread among Hispanic peoples.
